Eileen’s Journey of Strength and Healing

Eileen’s experience with breast cancer has been a journey of courage, perseverance, and finding the right medical care. Facing breast cancer for the second time, she learned about DIEP flap reconstruction—an option she never thought would be available to her because she had not previously undergone a total mastectomy.

After several consultations, Eileen was connected with Dr. Julie Vasile. During the evaluation process, additional testing, including an MRI, revealed cancer in her opposite breast. Although this discovery was unexpected, Eileene felt confident that she had found the right physician and treatment team.

Eileen underwent DIEP flap reconstruction and describes her experience and recovery as extremely positive. She expressed deep gratitude for Dr. Vasile, the nursing staff, and the care she received at Northern Westchester Hospital.
